Here's a fun and quick project that will have your kids stepping out in summer's latest foot fashions.

Prep Time: Under 1 hour
What you need:
Cloth ribbon, fringe, or similar trim
Scissors
Flip-flops with foam soles and foam or fabric straps
Low-temperature glue gun
Seasons: Summer
Materials: fabric

Instructions:
1.Choose a trim and cut a length to fit around the outer wall of each sole with a 1/2-inch overlap. Cut separate pieces of trim for the left and right sides of the foot strap, as well (again, the pieces should overlap 1/2 inch where the ends meet in the center).

2.
To attach the trim to the sole, evenly apply a line of hot glue to a 2-inch section of the foam, using the low-temperature glue gun tip to quickly spread it to a width that's slightly narrower than the ribbon. Firmly press the end of the trim onto the glued portion so that it sticks well, then smooth it toward the unglued section. Continue applying glue and attaching the trim in 2-inch increments until you've fully circled the sole.
3.Use the same method to attach the 2 pieces of strap trim. Allow the glue to dry for at least an hour before your child takes her newly decorated footwear for a walk.

Variations
Matching Beach Hat: For a matching summer cap, you can attach trim using a nontoxic fabric glue (we recommend Delta's Stitchless washable fabric glue).

I emailed this idea to all my nieces AND NEPHEWS. Boys could do this too using sports theme craft supplies, dinosaurs, or whatever they are into that will stay glued on (without scratching their toes). I like this craft because has a use after completion.
